Martek – FINALIST – Construction News Awards 2014!
The Construction News Awards are held every year to celebrate & recognise excellence within the construction industry!
The 2014 CN awards saw the highest number of entries across 18 different categories. The judging panel comprised of 60 industry experts which was made up of major clients, consultants, contractors, government & institutions who ran face-to-face interviews with the all of the applicants.
Martek were proud to be selected as finalists in the category – Sustainable Company of the Year following submitting an application which gave details on all of the prestigious ‘green’ projects we have had involvement with over the past 12 months as well as providing details & evidence of how we are continuously reducing our carbon footprint as well as assisting our customers, suppliers and other industry associates to join us in a host of green initiatives.
Although not successful on the night, the winner of the Most Sustainable Business category was Skanska with whom we worked on the London Borough of Brent (click here to view), a project recently voted as the most sustainable public building in Britain having achieved BREEAM Outstanding rating. Skanska went on to pick up the highest accolade of the evening when they also collected the Judge’s Supreme Award – very worthy competition indeed!
Our evening was added to by sharing a table with Hannah and David from Oktra who were successful in winning the award for the Specialist Contractor of the Year.
The awards ceremony was held at the Grosvenor House Hotel where over 1300 people gathered to discover who had won.
